The employment of individuals with Down syndrome has faced numerous challenges due to various barriers. Discrimination, negative attitudes, and stigma have led to the exclusion of these individuals. According to Article 27 of the UNCRPD, everyone has the right to employment, while Article 29 emphasizes the need for accessible information, inclusive education, and opportunities for meaningful participation in all areas of society.
